Blemishes and Pimples

When we talk about skin problems, we often use the term “blemishes” to describe any mark or discoloration on the skin. This could be acne, dark spots, or areas where someone has picked at their acne.

Now, the root cause of all acne is something called “retention hyperkeratosis.” It’s a bit of a complex term, but it essentially means that dead skin cells pile up and stick together in our pores along with other stuff like oil, bacteria, and even a random tiny hair. This mix forms a plug inside the pore, which is officially called a “comedo.” If this plug doesn’t get inflamed, it can turn into a whitehead or blackhead. But, if inflammation kicks in (also something we inherit), it becomes a pimple, pustule, or cyst.

A pimple is basically an inflamed acne spot that hasn’t come to a head yet. A pustule is when a pimple has reached a head. Cystic acne is a bit deeper, with soft, pus-filled, and inflamed lesions in the dermis. It can happen to anyone but is more common in teenage boys and young men.

To deal with inflamed acne properly, you need strong antibacterial products used the right way. They work well against inflamed acne-like pimples, pustules, and cysts. Combine this with some lifestyle changes, and you can make a big difference in clearing up and getting rid of inflamed acne.
